Leroy was born in Harlem, MO. He began work in the tire business at the age of 16, and was past district manager for Dunlop Tire and Toyo Tire.  He was presently manager of Northtown Tire.

He was an Elder in Northminster Presbyterian Church and an Honorary Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, Troop 288. .

Before Leroy was 16, he dropped out of school to go to work at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.  His boss soon discovered he was under age and had dropped out of school.   Arrangements were made  for Leroy to return to school and work after school and on weekends to earn the money needed.   Leroy was the kind of employee all employers seek.   Every employer he left, tried to get him to come back to their company.

Leroy had a keen sense of humor and loved to joke with friends and neighbors.   He was always willing and able to help anyone who needed help; especially his friends.    He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.

On one occasion, Leroy and his lovely wife took their grandchildren to Disney World in Florida.  Unfortunately, the children became homesick and the trip was cut short.  He never regretted the cost.

If you knew Leroy, you loved him. He will be missed more than words can ever say. Happy trails, Leroy, until we meet again.

TRIBUTE

Leroy loved to kid with my mother-in-law, Myrtle Ferguson, and she loved him dearly.   He would accuse her of making cookies and distributing them to other neighbors instead of saving them for him.   Once, he bandaged his foot and faked foot damage to kid her about the doctor she had consulted about her foot problem.  Leroy was like a son to me.   Tom Hagan

TRIBUTE

Leroy loved to have company.  One night, following a square dance, he invited several couples to come to their house for an after-dance breakfast.  This was all well and good except for one thing..... he failed to clear it with Cleta.    After waking a neighbor to borrow eggs and a lot of help from his friends and a few sips of courage, we all had breakfast.  Again, Cleta was just a little put out, not only with scrambled eggs in our tummies but also, ground into the carpet.  We never learned how Leroy got out of the dog house.  We will all miss Leroy terribly as we all loved him.  He was a bright spot in our lives.  Jerry and Ina Ruth Morris.
